how did you attach the keyboards to the bass?
is the bass modified in any other way? you said its an sr506, but the upper bout looks funny and so does the middle pickup. that may be my eye sight though.

| | | | well, the upper bit is broken. I have the strap setup like that because the original strap hook broke off along with the horn. I actually bought this bass like it is super cheap as a result. The pickups are the standard active Bartolini MK1s.
The keyboards are attached to a piece of wood via velcro and that wood is attached to another piece of wood that's screwed into the back of the bass at very carefully selected locations so as to avoid drilling into electronics. There's also a hole cut out of the wood to allow access to the battery.
The modification as a whole is really only attaching the keyboards to it. The keyboard signal is sent out via USB on their own and the bass is basically factory. |

| | | | fargin awesome! Y'know, this is one of those projects that could have come across as SO PRETENTIOUS...and yet kudos to you for keeping it real, having a sense of humor, and just making the whole thing really enjoyable for what it is.
Really entertaining, thanks. |

| | | What are you doing to the bass signal in FL to get that tone? What kind of EQ setting are you using? As an owner of the same bass I've never coaxed that legitimate of a metal tone out of it. Very cool setup! Reminds me of Trevor Gordon Hall's acoustic guitar/kalimba frankenstein: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo9kGHYn_bI |

| | | | I'll admit, I laughed when you first turned around... But that's actually awesome! Nice! You're shaping up to be a regular Geddy Lee if ever I saw one...

| | | | There are two channels of bass happening in the setup. There's the main channel with a guitar rig bass preset tweaked to taste with an EQ over it boosting up 500 - 5k. The second channel is a distortion, one of my guitar distortion setups, with all but 500 to 5k cut off with a scoop at 2k.
Also there's super mega compression on the input. Like, the most compression. This is because I have to have as much sustain as possible when I do the tapping parts when I solo/whatever. In FL I used a Fruity Limiter with the compression ratio at 1:4 and the threshold all the way down. like -57 db or something. As far as itll go. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
