Recently released. I'm spinning it now. I saw this tour last year at the Music Hall in Detroit, and it was burning.

Sea Journey, Missouri Uncompromised, Question and Answer, etc. What's not to like?!?

Just FYI. Swallow sounds sublime!

ooo, A new Metheny CD? That's now #1 on my "to Buy" list. Thanks for the heads up.

I've been wondering about this album! Saw it at Barnes & Noble and have been thinking about getting it. Gonna have to pick it up now!

Yngwie be praised! I've been waiting for this! The only thing missing is Bob Moses on drums, but you can't have everything.

They're coming to the Toronto Jazz Festival! It's gonna be great!

I got it yesterday. Have not listened to it all the way through yet.

But I do have one criticism: Antonio Sanchez plays too politely on this! Burton's groups always worked best with a very extroverted drummer. Burton needed a crazy element to counterbalance his and Swallow's very cerebral playing (and I mean no slight by that). I want to hear Moses or Gottlieb or Nussbaum (the Schwartz is strong in those men) or Roy Haynes. I think that Brian Blade would have worked nicely in that context, also.

Interestingly, I remember Sanchez just smoking when I saw this band live, but I do agree he is quite laid back on the recording.
