Tad bit o help with my setup. Amp to PC

Sign in to disble this ad
OK I want to record directly yo my computer.

I have more or less everything I need on the cheap end but I have run into a problem.

The amp I have does not have an output it only has a headphone out which is 1/4 I though this would suffice as an output but when plugged to the computer with multiple audio programs I get nothing. I even switched the amp over to 2nd channel and turned the pre-amp up nothing.

The Way I have it set up is Bass -> Amp -> 1/4 to 1/8 adapter -> Sound card Line-in

as far as I can see accept that the headphone out may not suffice as an output I should be gold anyone have any insight for me.

And before I get some silly questions the line in is set to the default recording device and i have it turned up and on.

What kind of amp do you have? I also tried the headphones out which didn't work, but the tuner out on my amp works.

Peavy rage 158 its a 15 watt its actually a guitar amp.
I don't have the money for a Bass amp and the ones I can afford won't suit my needs because I need performance level power so 80W upwards to keep up with my guitarists half stack and drummer who hits way to loud cause he is stiff wrist-ed.

Anywho I commonly hear of people using straight from Bass/Guitar to computer with adapter but have not a clue how that would work because nothing is powering the pickups.

I don't understand why the phones won't work it sends stereo audio out that's what a headphone jack is and that is what a line in is supposed to receive.

Issue is many software programs are looking for a high track sound in.
