Tal and Herbie... Joni tribute

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm pretty much done with Talkbass... BUT.... this brought me back for a quick thread/post.

The Herbie tribute to Joni is just a stunning disc, and a friend just sent me this video. Wayne, Herbie, Vinnie, Tal... absolutely beautiful to me! And Corrine just does a wonderful job with this difficult to pull off tune.

Enjoy, and happy Thanksgiving (early) to everyone!

Happy holidays back and thanks for all the insight and and the wealth of informative posts. I hope it's but only a hiatus.

None of my business, but I also hope this is temporary. Who in the heck else will argue with me about whether or not my sound is too dark? (Totally tongue-in-cheek, and I hope you know that.) Anyway, if there's anything I can do to dissuade you or to shorten the hiatus, I'm at your beck and call. Take care!

Oh I hope you aren't done with TB, Ken. But thanks for the find!

(And so sad that you seem to have parted the week I bought some TecAmp gear on your glowing recommendations!)

That may be the most I have ever liked a Tal bassline. She is a great player, but I love the two pickup tone she uses her much more than her back pickup tone. Although I can be as guilty of the Psuedo-Jaco tone as anybody, I feel it gets overdone sometimes.

Ken, as others said, I sure hope you come back to TB when you are ready. You are among the TB'ers that I have truly enjoyed getting to know. Take care.

+1 Just taking a bit of a rest, and trying to find a way to still participate a bit while avoiding drama (there are some nutty people on this site) and also all the 'boostering' and 'selling' (which always bothered me and seemed very dishonest) that seems to have taken over large parts of the amp part of the site, which is where my primary interests are.

No big deal... I'll be lurking, and posting on selected topics every once in a while.

Really love Tal's playing here. Corrine is soothing Thanks for the share

The bass tone is incredible too, I'm trying to cop this with my (Lakland DJ) jazz but I can't seem to get it right. It's a pretty standard classic tone but still. Any tips anyone?

Wow. What an all star cast of musicians! That's always been a favorite song of mine, and this is a very nice rendition.

Very nice tune I think but WAY too many notes in this version of it.
