I don't slap/pop, so what's the deal with Tal's sound? Light gage strings played with a heavy touch. She's got a great groove.
Oteil is from another planet. Killer stuff.

What holiday party was that? Wish I was there. Looks like there's some more vids of that event, no?

Oteil is from another planet. Killer stuff. | +1 That's the classic 'heavy touch played close to the neck with ss roundwound' J tone. I totally dig it, and that's just a great example of the Sadowsky J tone with single coils when you really dig in IMO and IME.
Oteil and that scatting way up the neck with a 6 string...not so much |

I've only seen Tal with a more Jaco-esque sound, so this is interesting.
I'm curious, does she use a Marcus bass or does it just resemble?

I can't get enough of his phrasing - some of the lines he plays are just so oblique and out there, but he always comes back to center. For me, Oteil is right up there with Patitucci when it comes to soloing. Just out of this world phrasing.
And after listening to Keith Jarret albums, there's no way a little scatting from Oteil will bother me... |

That scatting is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I love Patiticci's soloing on the 6. Otiel's sounds like it's from 'wana be guitarist land'. That being said, I totally dig his work with the Allman Brothers.... old school, groovin' bliss. Just personal preference on the 'C string above the 12th fret with humming' thing |

Oteil is from another planet. Killer stuff. | Oteil is from Egypt. Go find the first Col. Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit CD.
He's probably the greatest bass player alive. |

The one Roger gave her.
Man, it's kinda funny, but doesn't Oteil sound the same on a Warwick as he does on his Fodera or did on his Modulus???
