Techno!

Post your favourite techno tracks!

This newish group I find to be very exciting, they're really bridging the (admittedly short) gap between techno and minimalism:

We want soulless machine music, none of that newfangled trip-hop stuff!

Acid is fine though, as long as it's acid techno, think Solar Quest or Woody McBride.

Thank You! I love Juan Atkins! I actually met him at The Movement (DEMF) festival here in Detroit a few years ago, cool guy!

But favorite tracks, I don't know. There are so many! I actually have to break it down by genre (or sub-genre) Here is a small sample off the top of my head

Acid House/ Classic House:
Adonis - No Way Back

Phuture - Acid Tracks
Armando - 151

Frankie Knuckles - Tears

Jaquarius - Love is Happiness (Acid Rain Mix)
Inner City - Good Life

Deep House:
Kelli Chandler - Atmospheric Beats
The Beloved - The Sun Rising (Mark's Deep House Mix)
Joe Claussell - Spiritual Insurrection

Ambient:
Aphex Twin - Delphium (and the rest of SAW 1 & 2)
The Orb - Blue Room

Jungle/Drum & Bass:
Photek - Rings around Saturn
LTJ Bukem & Doc Scott: Tokyo Dawn
Equinox - Acid Rain
Squarepusher - Port Rhombus

Rave/Bigbeat:
Prodigy - Break and Enter
The Chemical Brothers - The Test
Orbital - Halcyon On and On
Orbital - One Perfect Sunrise
808 State - Cubik
808 State - Pacific State
Basement Jazz - Where's Your Head At?
The Prodigy - No Good (Start The Dance)

Trance:
Delerium - Silence (Dj Tiesto Mix)
Ferry Corsten - Punk
Yoji Biomehanika - Samurai
Pulser - Cloudwalking

House:
Daft Punk - One More Time
Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You

Tons and tons more!

Saw Jeff Mills with the local symphony orchestra this friday, it was brilliant Jeff Mills & Montpelier Philharmonic Orchestra - The Bells - YouTube

During one of the new tracks (written specifically for orchestra, there are no videos of it yet), he had a fantastic duo with one of the percussionists, him on 808 and the percussionist on snare.

If Mills ever comes to your neighbourhood with his "Light from the Outside World"-Project, I wholly reccomend it!

edwardthewave: lots of great stuff in that post. I have a special soft spot for 808 State as that was the first "techno" act that I really got into. Here's a cool documentary on house music worth having a look at: History Of House Music Prt 1 - YouTube
