I think this is not too long before she passed. I loved that woman!

When Sinbad was doing those old school specials for HBO in the 90's one of the segments I still think about was Teena Marie's, she and her band killed it. I met her once, she was such a such a delight. Love Teena!!!!!

Absolutely LOVE this tune. My mom actually got me hip to Teena Marie a few years back and I snatched up a 'Best Of' CD as fast as I could!

Cool! I was just listening to "Square Biz" in the car the other day. Too funky.

I am just happy to do a little something to keep her memory alive. I remember Christmas time 2010, and the word came out that she had died. I had not been that bummed out since James Brown died. She truly was living soul and funk wrapped into one pettite package. I know it's a cliche, but Teena Marie was absolute proof that soul has no color.

Pretty sure it was Alan McGreer playing bass on "Square Biz".

I'm fairly certain that Oscar Alston played bass on that track.

Both Allen McGrier (fixed the spelling) and Oscar Alston are credited with playing bass on the album, but I haven't found any source that specifies who played on which tracks. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing McGrier mentioned as the bassist on "Square Biz" in an article somewhere but I'm not sure.

It's funny - I have to play LMFAO's "Sexy And I Know It" with my corporate band. There's no real bass line in that tune (man these dance "producers" are getting lazy). The first thing I thought was "The bass line from 'Behind The Groove' will work great here" so that's what I'm going to play.
