Tell Me What You Think. Honestly.

Okay so may band went down to Columbus to some studio to record some songs for some people yada yada yada anyway this is one of them that we asked if we could put up and its all good. So here it is. It's a little bluesy I guess? I obviously play bass on it.

Please tell me what you think. Of the song, of my playing, or anyone's playing, why we suck and quit music or whatever you feel like. Just looking for comments.

Song: Trampin on my heart blue

Set up for those who care: Lecompte STS-5, Schroeder 1212, GK 800 RB, DI'd with a Radial JDI, and Mic'd with something that looked expensive.

Thanks in advnace,
Danny

its hard to do something important with these types of progressions and song forms because they are so monotonous and simple

as for sucking or not sucking its in your court, what are you trying to do? did your final product live up to the ideas you had in your head?

if you have any expectations are they realistic?...

So what you are saying is that blues (The basis of almost all modern music from jazz to rock and roll) is monotonous and simple.
I'ld like to see you argue that point with the likes of Clapton, Ray-Vaughn and Hendrix.

yep, sounds like blues based pop rock to me. Seems listener friendly and very marketable here in central FL.
And yes, blues based rock can be redundant for the rhythm section as usually the lead guitar and/or keys solo heavy on the looping 3 chord progressions. but hey, that's blues rock and to do it right takes the discipline to stay in the pocket and keep things tight.
just because it's "simple" does not mean it sucks, it just is what it is.

I don't listen to a lot of music like this so it was a refreshing change from the mainstream rock and harder influenced stuff I usually listen to.

That said, I liked it. Enough to bookmark the site for future listening!

Cheers,

the most you can expect is to get some drunk college girls to go home with you, for people that are into music, they are going to want a bit more for their brains to chew on

so as for sucking or not sucking its in your court, what are you trying to do? did your final product live up to the ideas you had in your head?

Thank you for you input. The final product was alot better IMO than what it started as. We're just a group of HS'ers that play shows so were not the best seasoned vets. But I don't think we suck don't mean to be arrogant though.

As for the guy with the blues argument. I think I just said its a little blusey? I don't know, didn't mean to start an argument here I was just saying how it sounded to me.

And thanks for the kinds words of course.

Danny

The singer really reminds me of the singer from The Guess who (old canadian band)...nice stuff, not what I'm into but very nice.

It's not bad by any means.

Not suggesting you overplay... but when the guitar solos, it feels like a huge hole pops open. Play some more! Think: WWJBD*.

I think you got a nice bluesy song that reminds me of some of the things "Bread" did. Great to dance with the ladies with!
Good balance throughout the song. Even the vocals came out good as well. Keep up the good work.

I liked it. Of course, I like the band "Bread" and own their greatest hits cd.
