So my band, we got recorded a few weeks back. We recorded 4 songs in 45min.

Its just a Demo. Its rough. And my Bass tone is.... let me just say Ugh... We all have our fare messups

I play a cheap Ibanez 5string soundgear. thru a Boss GT-6b and i recorded thru my friends Rig

GK 300 Backline Head,
Sansamp RBI,
SWR Workingman 4x10

Anyways. My bass has this ugly growl/metallic sound. Not at all smooth or pretty sounding. The pickups are Dieing but im getting a SR506 next month

Anywho, the new recordings are on our myspace.

www.myspace.com/bodyorbrain

the new songs are
"If Its Good, It Works"
"Taste Quietly, Black And White"
"Pompeii"
"Lets Talk To Strangers"

oh, also. We are instrumental. No vocals.
and my guitarist plays with his thumb, and in a funky ass weird tuning that is (if googled) an old Celtic Tuning.

Anyways, thanks for feedback

PS. My drummers uncle said this "Ok, it sounds like your bassist is a Rush fan. I Hear Prog Rock." Is it that obvious? haha

Yeah, I dig the songs. Pretty solid basslines too. You are right tho, that tone leaves alot to be desired. I'll bet the new bass helps that quite a bit. At least you got something real going on and have recordings to post!
good job!

Sounds cool. Reminds me a bit of Dysrhythmia.
I don't find the bass tone horrible. It cuts through pretty well.

I like it. But the bass tone is just not my thing and it sounds like it is not your thing either. You need to fix that. It sounds like the strings are just ready to fall off.

I like this music though.

peace

its pretty good stuff...its not exactly what most people would listen to all the time, but i would sure come and watch you guys play a show if i was a friend of yours that lived in your town. Everything sounds pretty good, obviously it is not a superb flawless recording, but it all comes together as music fairly well...

i love going to watch my friends' bands play shows even if none of us are actually super good song writers(most of us write comical songs just for the sheer entertainment of a party of friends).

If you can entertain a group of people and have fun doing it then in my mind you are a successful band. So I say keep it up!

Nice playing and good songs. Your tone isn't that bad, actually, it's just a bit unrefined - low-end gear often does that. I like the growly sound, though, hope it doesn't go away with your new bass.

I think it's more EQ than gear.

Sweet sound though man, can I get an EP sent to aus?

Check out my thread in here if you like, jam 1, you might dig it.

I loved your stuff. The song Pompeii was great

What floored me is your guitarists tone sounds so much like the guitarists of early Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band.

I also liked the way the recordings sound old (quality wise) to me for some reason, like an old recording.

While the bass playing is very good, I believe it's a bit too up front in the mix on some songs. I am also not a great fan of your clicky/feildy bass like sound, I think a less trebly tone would fit with the band and songs a bit better. The bass is competing with the same space as the guitar for much of the songs except Taste Quietly, Black and White.

If you really put the songs first, I feel the bass should be backed down and less treble, to serve the songs better. It sound like the bass wants to overpower everyone else, when that is not the focus of the material, in my opinion. The bass is better in the song Taste Quietly, Black and White. But still needs to be back in the mix.

Just my opinion, I think you guys are great, but need some tweaking. Also the drums are bit too high in the mix as well and could use some polish in the sound/recording dept. The drums sound a bit rough, garage like- maybe that's the intent?

If you can get a singer in the league of Captain Beefheart so much the better.

again just my opinion. Do not be offended please.
