Question Thinking of You - Bernard Edwards on bass, or who?

The most common version of this old Sister Sledge tune has the great Bernard Edwards on bass.

But recently I found this different version, with a slapped line in the verse and fingerstyle chorus.

I really like this, especially the fingerstyle bits. Somehow it doesn't sound quite like Bernard's style to me. Any of you guys able to throw any light on this?

I don't know who it is, but is definitely not Bernard Edwards. The version with the slapped bassline is more recent. Their voices sound older.

Doesn't sound like Bernard Edwards to me but it sounds good (I'm I'm generally not a fan of slapped versions of Chic songs - I mean, why mess with a good thing . I did a search on Youtube but couldn't find any live versions that matched what you posted, Bill. Nice find, though!

It's got a Marcus Miller feel to it. Even though it sounds like a more recent recording, in a way, it's more old fashioned. The original had a great groove.

Sounds a bit too P-Bass for Marcus or Bernard, sounds like Freddie Washington stylee per 'Forget me Not's with a modern P sound to me? Could be a load of different session guy's.

It's not Bernard. The different version was done in the UK in the 90's. Could be a session guy.
