This is the last project that I did. I recently left and was thinking about doing something similiar.....or different.

Yeah, it's different. Haha. We had a great time at gigs too. We would take old German Expressionist movies, Betty Boop cartoons and Bollywood classics-arrange them to the music, and project that on the wall behind us. We also had dancers and painters perform with us. It was a good time.

Thanks guys. The recording was done at Drexel University. We won a contest at World Cafe Live and the prize was 2 days in the studio. I wish we had more time to work on it. It has a 'rushed' quality to it, which kind of works for the style of music. But, one thing that I'd like to have changed is the tempo fluxuations. The music does call for a bit of movement, but sometimes it got carried away. No biggie, as it sort of has a murky type of sound that could be heard as a back drop to a 1920's boxing match held in an Argentinian brothel.

The bass was recorded direct through an old Altec (?) tube preamp and mic'd with a large diapragm mic. I don't know too much of the specifics. It was recorded into Pro-Tools and mixed on a portable 16 track digital workstation.

very nice indeed! i'm reminded of charlie Hunter for the e-guitar tone and effects. maybe a little Calexico too. nice mix of influences, eastern european, parisian etc. I like the choice of instrumentation. quite the sonic pallete(sp?)

Thanks. I just noticed your post. We all had alot of different influences. I was listening to alot of Bollywood and Tango at the time. There is definitely alot of Parisian influence too.
