Does this happen to anyone else? I'm working on a line for a song, and I actually come up with an idea or two, and I get excited, and the next thing I know I'm running ahead of the beat. Then I stop, try to get myself together, go for another take, only this time I'm overly aware of not speeding up, and I fall behind. Then I stop, play the line about a dozen times, all the way through, without making a take, and by the tenth time it's perfect, but I'm not really paying attention anymore, and the line has lost its sparkle, and now I'm wondering "Get up and walk away for a while?"

So instead I'm here posting this nonsense...

I know, I know. Some people have real problems.

This can be remedied by practicing consistently with a metronome, keeping time with your foot and counting.
