IN September 2004 Bass Player Mag published a transcription of I CAN'T GET NEXT TO YOU. An LA Bassist called Ron Brown transcribed it.

Here's his list of 10 'unsung' Jamerson tracks:

Night Fo' Last - Shorty Long
People Sure Act Funny - Shorty Long
Shoo-be-doo-be-day - Stevie Wonder
You Met Your Match - Stevie Wonder
Up The Ladder To The Roof - The Supremes
Save the Children - Marvin Gaye
Groove Thang - Junior Walker
The Power of Love - Jerry Butler
Nothing But Soul - Junior Walker
Your Love iS Rated X

I haven't checked them all out, but the ones I have were good.

To that list I would add:

Love's Gone Bad - Chris Clark
Fever In The Funkhouse - released under Jamerson's name
Mutiny - Junior Walker
You're My Everything - The Temptations
At Last - Stevie Wonder

I didn't see this one mentioned but it has a great Jamerson line:
"Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever" - The Four Tops

I agree with all of the above. Here's a non Jamerson track (actually Wilton Felder) that I recently learned and is appropriate to recent developments:

I Want You Back - Jackson 5

"Inner City Blues". That line is all about feel and it's perfect for the song. I's say it's also one of Motown's most recognizable bass lines.

"Master Blaster". Great bounce and lots of fun to play.

"Give It To Me Baby".

"I Want You Back".

"I'm Coming Out". Because it's Bernard Edwards being his usual funky self!

"Do I Do"

.... so many others...

The Johnnie Taylor track "Your Love is Rated X" was the wonderful Michael Henderson. And yes, he can do Jamerson like no-one else.
