top 5 favorite modern songs (1990 and newer)

Sign in to disble this ad
as a spin off on the top 5 fav motown, i want to identify everyone's top 5 fav songs that have been recorded since 1990. basically, the best songs of the past 20 years!

one rule, it cant be a live song from 1975 that was released in 1995. the song has to have been recorded since 1990.

so no miles davis, no james jamerson, no jaco, etc.

Well, that's 20 years worth of music, but I'll list 5 of my favorite songs from that period off the top of my head, songs that I think stand up over time:

"Almost Gothic" - Steely Dan
"Daylight" - Alison Krauss and Union Station
"Don't Tell Me" - Buddy Miller
"The Last Balloon" - XTC
"Nervous Breakdown" - Brad Paisley

a lot of love on TB for Porcupine Tree. Same with Mastodon. must be a big group of progressive rock fans in here.

20 years is a long time, not to mention A LOT of genres of good 'modern' music!

Lemme go through my IPod, CD AND cassette collection and get back to ya!

if you want to do just 90s rock, thats my preference, but i dont want to leave out any good jazz, rap, indie/alternative music etc.
