Has anyone been digging this album as much as I have? I'm a huge Dream Theater fan, but this album within one listen-through put Transatlantic straight to the top as my favorite band, no question.
Trewavas outdid himself, some of the grooves in this album are just downright sexy.

BTW, I`ve seen there`s a version with 2CDs.
Is it worthy ?

Is it worthy ? | The dual-disc is indeed worthy. Four covers and four more original tunes. They're catchy. Not nearly as majestic as the main disc, but catchy. And their cover of Genesis' Return of the Giant Hogweed is to me more likeable than even the original.

Met Pete a few years ago before a TA gig. Nicest guy ever. Unfortunately, that contrasted with my experience with Roine Stolt. Ugh.
I liked SMTP:e more than the Whirlwind though.

| A couple of spots (one song) gets a bit heavy handed Christian, but I must admit overall the music is amazing. Great bass playing. A bit Chris Squire cloned, but still great.
Given his strong Christian beliefs, It really comes through in the music, for the better, in my opinion. Very spirited playing. If this is what Christianity does for him, more power to him. For the most part, they dont beat you over the head with it, nor do they hide it.
An excellent recording. I recommend it. |

Everyone needs to be inspired by something in their writing. In this sense, Neal was heavily inspired without setting out to make a Christian record. It makes for deep and genuinely intriguing lyrics.
