Transcend 16GB SDHC card ebay scam

Sign in to disble this ad
Just thought that i'd post this to let others be aware of an ebay scam that i found out about first hand. I purchased a "transcend 16GB SDHC class 6 card" from an ebay seller a little over a week ago.

It was a great price for it at $32.00, however, after recording my gig last weekend, I found out that the last set didn't record at all (bummer!). It turns out that these cards were digitally modified to show a memory of 16GB on your computer and recorder, but in reality, these cards only have 2GB worth of capacity.

I have already contacted Paypal about it and they are looking into it and told me that I'd be getting a refund within the next 30 days or so, but I thought that I'd try and save anyone else the hassle of going thru what I am right now. Another ebay buyer of the same Transcend 16GB memory card had the exact same issue with the same purchase, so this is NOT a fluke, but rather a premeditated scam.

Here's a link to the item that I purchased:

Their ebay seller name is: acesdistributing so beware!

regards!

This is very common in China - they have found out how to fool the computer.

It is possible that the seller bought these online and doesn't even know that they are not real.

Huh. And people wonder why I don't do eBay.....

TB classifieds, a couple of online music stores (with actual physical locations), and local stores (for music and non-music stuff)

I don't even do amazon that much except for the occasional book/cd/movie that they have in stock that I can't get local except thru special-ordering.
