I was in a band once that did a screaming thrash cover of the trooper and I thought I played it pretty well. Hearing it isolated just reminds me how much I suck. Back to the drawing board.

That is awesome! I practice Maiden all the time, great way to build and keep your endurance.

That doesn't sound like the original bass track. Steve Harris plays a lot cleaner than that. Hell,I can play it cleaner than that. That's just too sloopy to be Steve..

Its taken from the rock band game. Its Steve.

Compare it with the album. You can easily hear the fretboard noises in the album song.

Yeah, Having seen a ton of Maiden videos, he really does clank the hell out of it. I'd beleive that to be him.

Steve is silly to use flats, cause he EQs them to sound like rounds anyway and uses their fresh sound exclusively. On a side note, I wasn't aware that he used dirt/overdrive, but I like it!

I agree. It's not the fret slap that's sloppy, it's mostly rhythm issues.

Thanks for postings this. I have been longing to hear Steve Harris bass isolated on this particular track. Shame that the guitars where leaking trough. On the isolated Number of the Beast track there was just the bass.

Heh this is interesting.

Hell, if I could play a fresh set of flats every night, I'd do as well. It's still different from rounds imho.

You can slap with flats. It's again just personal preference.

Rhythm issues? It's his damn composition, he can play it however he wants to.
