This has to be one of the most sublime ensemble performances I have seen in awhile. Everyone plays their part perfectly. Oteil's playing is beautiful YouTube - ‪TRUCKS & TEDESCHI BAND - Midnight In Harlem‬‏

| | | Oh, funny! I recently started a different thread after seeing this exact same clip -- on PBS TV: Help Me Identify a Band
Aside from the terrific, soulful performance, can you imagine a duet of Susan Tedeschi and Bonnie Raitt? I would not be able to tell who was singing which part -- S. T. sounds _exactly_ like B. R. |

For me, her voice is mixed a bit too loud in the mix on this album. I crank the volume up at the start of a song and what a grooving sound from the band, but when Susan's voice starts in, it really over powers the band and one has to turn down the volume.

Me: "Hey Oteil, you played great tonght!"
OB: "Thanks, man!"
Me: "Uh, when are you gonna make another Peacemakers album? I've been listening to 'Believer' over and over again, but I wanna hear something new!"
OB: "Ha-ha...we're in the studio working on one right now!"
Me: "NICE, I'll be looking out for it."
(we simultaneously waved and parted ways)
I squealed like a teenage girl after that.

| | | | Great band , great song, the CD as a whole was a bit disappointing. Too much talent in that band to come up with so many tame tunes. |

| | | | I really like the album, especially the more i listen to it. I do however like the live shows better. Derek said in an NPR interview that, "With all the fire power they knew they would blow the top off live." Basically said they wanted to make an album that focused more on susan's vocals and that was more about the songs than what they are all capable of as musicians. With that said Oteil is at the top of the list for me. |

| | | | Oteil is easily my favorite current all around bass player. He has it all: incredible groove, tone and melodic as hell. |

I was already amped from watching Pino play with John Mayer and then O'teil brings it.
I oughta have my bass player's license revoked though for not recognizing O'teil.
Now I really need to check out more of his work.

This was Pre Allman Brothers, I'm not sure if there's any Allman Bro's stuff with him on it. I'm guessing there would be but I have not run across it. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
