Porcelain Heart The Lotus Eater
There are torrents out there on scrapetorrent if you want higher quality. The mastering is simply incredible.
Best band in the world.
Can't wait for June.
OMG There is cor anglais on Porcelain Heart! Class.

It is the only album of theirs I did not purchase, which is fine. Morningrise is the only other album I don't really like, with Deliverance being my absolute favourite.
Either way, I listened to these two tracks earlier and was quite impressed. The one has a sort of Bungle/ELP vibe toward the middle which was fun. I'll be picking this one up, and perhaps a return visit toward Ghost Reveries is in order.

The Lotus Eater on the other hand.... awesome. Mostly. I hate the clean/growly vokill combination. Its one of the reasons I hate Alexis on Fire as much as I do . That said, I REALLY like the growl the vokillist has going on.
Would I buy the album based on these 2 songs: no. In fact I dont think I own any opeth (i dont really remember).... |

And I'm going to bother listening to the songs. I love these guys and will definitely pick the CD up when it comes out.

Morningrise is their opus, Deliverance is their weakest, and Ghost Reveries...was pretty damn good.
To each his own! I really admire radically different tastes.
nad, I suggest listening to The Night and the Silent Water...over and over. Then play the bassline (so much fun, I swear). |

I thought it was a novelty at best, even upon repeated listenings. Then I started getting into their other stuff, and quickly became a fan.
Deliverance is so amazing, but I know I'm in the minority with that one.

But yes, he HAS been replaced.

| | | Well they were just incredible, not surprising I guess, they've never written a bad song
Thanks for the links mate!
Oh and to the dude above me, he was replaced by Fredrik Åkesson, formally of Arch Enemy... and why oh why did you call In Flames black metal? haha

Lunar Strain
Jester Race
Whoracle
Colony
Clayman
the first three of those are excellent. Colony and Clayman are good, thats where they started to change. As for the newer stuff, I liked Come Clarity, hated Reroute to Remain and Soundtrack to Your Escape, and am still unsure of the new one (leaning more towards dislike).
If you want a similar type band, check out Dark Tranquillity. With the exception of Projector, every one of their albums is quite good (IMO).
