Two somewhat similar tunes driving me crazy

There are these two tunes that sound extremely similar when I play them at different times of the day. I swear one is just like the other. But when I play them back to back, they seem totally different. What is it about these two tunes that is similar?

Song 1 (you-tube video):
D.A.N.C.E. by Justice

Song 2 (MP3):
Plain Tree Street by Brendon Boney

My guess is that part of the vocals in D.A.N.C.E. kind of mimic the bassline in Plain Tree Street.
Also, in Plain Tree Street, he sings "Get up and dance" while in D.A.N.C.E. they sing a similar "Do the dance." Perhaps there are other similarities.

The main riff sounds similar in both of them to me.
