Hey,

I was playing U2's desire before and I just wanted to know if the E string is tuned a half step down. The song is in E flat, no?

Peece.

Douglas.

P.S- If anyone has a bass cover of this song, feel free to post.

My band played that song a long time ago. I'm pretty sure the whole guitar is tuned down a half step, so that the Edge plays it in E (chords are D-A-E, etc).

We played it in E standard tuning). I don't know how Adam Clayton (is that his name?) does it.

Have you looked for the song on youtube?

Many/most U2 songs are a half step down. They never considered Bono to have great range, so this made it quite a bit easier for him. If I remember correctly, you need both the E and A strings for that song, and both should be tuned down half a step... to match the recorded version anyway.

Yeah, I couldn't remember if U2 was a "tune to E flat" band. But I thought they might be.

Eb tuning for sure. Needed an open Eb and Ab for the bass line from what I remember.
