Whats your opinion on No Line On The Horizon?

Aside from Claytons usual bass lines, whats your overall opinion?

I'm a huge U2 fan, and I'm not happy with it. I like the first two tracks, "Get On Your Boots" is okay in a sleazy, trashy sort of way, and a couple of the mellow atmospheric tracks toward the end are good. But I don't think any track equals their best work, and some of it, like "Unknown Caller," is just awful. I'd give it 2.5 out of five stars. IMO, YMMV, etc.

I agree. Its definitely not their best work since pre-Zooropa, like people say. I liked HtDaAB better, personally. The older stuff is still the best though. IMO, YMMV, etc.

For what was once a band who could be relied on to produce big, catchy tunes (even as late as "Beautiful Day"), U2 have fallen considerably with successive lazy efforts. This does nothing to buck the trend, sadly.

I agree. Definitely doesnt contain anything on the lines of Beautiful Day, One, or City of Blinding Lights, but its good to have some new U2 in my iPod.

U2 has always sucked.

This record just sucks a lot harder than some of their other releases.

Good opinion. I never listened to U2 until last summer, have you ever given them a good chance?

I'll admit I have never been a fan of U2, but this new album is particularly bad in my opinion. I've not heard all of it, but of what I've heard on TV such as "Get on Your Boots" it's pretty bland music that doesn't do anything particularly special or interesting. That's just my opinion, but yeah, not my cup of tea.

I agree. Its okay, Im listening to it ATM, and dig it. I think U2, dare me say it, is starting to make music for the money and general population instead of the sake of the music. All my favorite bands, i.e. Linkin Park, have kinda sold out to the 14 year old female listeners lately.

I like it pretty well. Need to give it a few listens and let it sink in.

Every established band's new album seems sketchy at first, because it's not the classic one they put out X number of years ago.

(U2 haters: we know you're out there. Don't bother posting your drivel.)

Honestly, after a few listens...

It's good. It may not be great but it is good. Like the poster said above, sometimes it has to grow on you. For me, this album has.

I'm not a huge fan of post Joshua tree U2, but I kinda like it. I need to listen to it a bit more.

I dig it. "I'll Go Crazy if I Don't Go Crazy" is a favorite.

It's not rehashed U2, and yet it is still very much in the U2 style. New but familiar.

I guess Joshua Tree is still my favorite album, but this new one is quite nice.

Some people love to hate U2. I've never really understood why.

if there was ever one band that have never made a difference in the world of music, and wouldn't be missed, its U2

Hello Troll.

No, the Edge's guitar soundscape has had no effect on modern rock. Bono's religious lyrics and activism has had no impact on Christian music or international aid.

Once I heard a kid say, "The Beatles aren't original, I hear stuff just like them all the time." That's because all the music that followed the Beatles, followed the Beatles.

U2 has greatly influenced a large number of musicians. They are hugely popular worldwide. Clearly they have made a big difference in the world of music. Now, maybe you don't like them, and maybe you wouldn't miss them if they weren't around, but that's something totally different, isn't it?

No Woody, if I took his post correctly, he meant if U2 disappeared there are so many haters no one would care. He is a fan, but stating his opinion on the haters. I think.

I prefer U2's contributions to charity way more than their music...
