Whats your opinion on No Line On The Horizon?
Aside from Claytons usual bass lines, whats your overall opinion?

I like the first two tracks, "Get On Your Boots" is okay in a sleazy, trashy sort of way, and a couple of the mellow atmospheric tracks toward the end are good. But I don't think any track equals their best work, and some of it, like "Unknown Caller," is just awful. I'd give it 2.5 out of five stars. IMO, YMMV, etc.

This record just sucks a lot harder than some of their other releases. |

I've not heard all of it, but of what I've heard on TV such as "Get on Your Boots" it's pretty bland music that doesn't do anything particularly special or interesting. That's just my opinion, but yeah, not my cup of tea.

I think U2, dare me say it, is starting to make music for the money and general population instead of the sake of the music. All my favorite bands, i.e. Linkin Park, have kinda sold out to the 14 year old female listeners lately.

Every established band's new album seems sketchy at first, because it's not the classic one they put out X number of years ago.

It's good. It may not be great but it is good. Like the poster said above, sometimes it has to grow on you. For me, this album has.

It's not rehashed U2, and yet it is still very much in the U2 style. New but familiar.
I guess Joshua Tree is still my favorite album, but this new one is quite nice.
Some people love to hate U2. I've never really understood why.

No, the Edge's guitar soundscape has had no effect on modern rock. Bono's religious lyrics and activism has had no impact on Christian music or international aid.
Once I heard a kid say, "The Beatles aren't original, I hear stuff just like them all the time." That's because all the music that followed the Beatles, followed the Beatles. |

They are hugely popular worldwide. Clearly they have made a big difference in the world of music. Now, maybe you don't like them, and maybe you wouldn't miss them if they weren't around, but that's something totally different, isn't it?

He is a fan, but stating his opinion on the haters. I think.
