Unholy Satanic Slaughter: New King Bowman Jam!!

Thrashier than we usually are, but it's still stoner rockish. Not my favorite track of ours, but I'm stoked that we have it recorded. It sounds super heavy, don't look for any flashy bass, just groovin' stuff. High on Fire influence VERY VERY aparent in this jam.

Screamy vocals, BTW.

Enjoy.

Nice! I especially like the melodic part right before the doomy bust. The vocals sound sick there.

You're singer digs Celtic Frost huh? There might be a few too many "Tom G. Warrior" grunts thrown in there, but other than that it sounds dope.

Well, it didn't take someone long to spot it. Ha. We've been talking a lot about typical metal vocal ****, included the Tom G Warrior grunt. This is King Bowman's mini tribute to the Frost I guess. I like it because it makes me laugh... which isn't very metal, but yeah, watch out in the future for the "King Diamond demon laugh"

Thanks for the listen.

Thanks everybody. I still wish we had one of our more "stoner rock" type tracks to put up. A lot of our new stuff is very NWOBHM influenced, and I'd like to toss one of those tracks up, but they are brand new and probably won't make the full length.

That's actually one thing I'm digging about the "direction" we are taking, we've got 3 song (riff) writers who write in almost completely different styles. This one is written by our lead guitarist, who's big on thrashy stuff. Our singer/guitarist writes awesome simple parts (his usually turn out the best) that have a droney riffy feel. I write stuff that's usually too over the top... all the prog stuff I've been listening to is finally seeping it's way in. But it all connects tonally for the most part.

I'm wondering if I want to rerecord the bass though, this is the only track I recorded with a pick because I like the way it sounds. But I didn't have it EQed for pick playing. I don't know, I still gotta go over some tracks, make sure I played everything right.

We're debuting a few new songs friday at a gig that I'm stoked about.

Negative Theory: It's going to be at the Beer Mug, while I'm there, I'm going to talk to the owner and set up a show far in advance for maybe late March/April type area and hopefully Satanic Bat can make it up.

Oh man, I love it.

THERE CAN NEVER BE TOO MANY TOM G WARRIOR GRUNTS. EVAR. I just saw Goatwhore a few weeks ago and was ecstatic when they busted it out.

You should check out a band (if you haven't) called Usurper. Might be obvious, but they are big Celtic Frost fans.

First off, the band members are:
Sythe (guitar), Diabolical Slaughter (vocals), and Apocalyptic Warlord (drums), Necromancer (bass). SO, that's awesome. I bought the album Threshold of the Usurper because I listened to the first track, and it was awesome black metal. The rest of the album was just a total ripoff of CF's heavy side. Which I didn't mind. "OOOOOHs" by the bucketfull.

The music is great. In this particular song I'm not a big fan of the vocals( I usually like your singer though).

Great stuff, keep it up.
Come to MS and play!

Yeah, that is the thing: We all prefer when he sings, but he has trouble a lot of the time coming up with vocals over really thrashy stuff. We havent given up on clean vocals, but sometimes he screams as an easy way out... sometimes he screams because he wants to. We have a couple songs when he screams, it's very appropriate... but I think this song could have used more clean vocals. But things are slow going... I'd prefer he sing, but at this point, I just want our album (it's been a half year since our album was done, except vocals...) to be done.

Are his clean vocals off key? I think they might be, but I'm bad at being able to tell exactly what's wrong.

Sorta, it's hard not to get off key in Metal if you're not using corrective devices and ****. Ask Dave Mustaine.
They don't sound bad. In my metal , I prefer that the singer not have "amerian Idol" perfection with key and pitch

My only complaint was that his growl scream vocals in Satanic Slaughter sound like a cat getting fried in a car engine. I don't mean to be crude or rude , I've actually heard that and it sounds a lot like the growls in that song. Not trying to be mean. I like King Bowman

No dude, I'm totaaaaaallly behind you. I made sure he isn't giving up on singing all together. I am getting him the Zen of Screaming DVD, which actually has some awesome vocal lessons for clean vocals as well. The reason I joined this band was "WHOA?! Heavy music with clean vocals?! I'm down."

So, he's not going to scream all the time on the new stuff, he's just doing more of it than I'd like
