audio sucks, but I love this vid

Going back in time, back to a time when metal was king in the NW of USA.

I think you can spot me getting my 21yo face bashed in at some point.

FORCED ENTRY

Define your parameters as far as unknown. Are we talking unknown to the regular radio listener, or hometown heroes that no-one from outside your area would know about?

Anyhow, I'm guessing the first two aren't that unknown, but High on Fire and Baroness are two current bands that got me back into metal.

And Megasus is pretty cool...

Kalas - they had Matt Pike from Sleep/High On Fire on vocals, but no one seems to know them. They played fairly melodic doom metal and I personally think their one album has some of the best riffs I've heard, because they focus on melody rather than being technical. Also has my favourite guitar tones of all time too. (http://www.myspace.com/kalasoakland)

maudlin of the Well, Polkadot Cadaver, Dog Fashion Disco, Mr. Bungle, Estradasphere (at times), Krigshot, Ulver (at times), Cynic, Atheist, Cephalic Carnage, Gorguts, Portal - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emrBZZtGFgI , Have A Nice Life, Between the Buried and Me, Carcariass, Baroness, Harvey Milk, Melt Banana, Boris, Khanate, Northwinds, Skinny Puppy (more industrial.. but is obscure, and metal at times), KMFDM (industrial, again..), Acumen Nation, The Dillinger Escape Plan (mathcore, but y'know,) Converge (more hardcore and old metalcore (not that trivium crap), but very good, look up 'Jane Doe'.), Neurosis, Pelican, Isis, DRI, Keelhaul, Electric Wizard.. to name a few.

That's a good entry list, I'd say.

If you haven't heard "I" you should check them out. Norwegian supergroup (members of Immortal, Gorgoroth & Enslaved) who only made one album. Totally rockin' 80's style metal but with modern tones and super clear production. Sorta Motorhead meets WASP and Bathory.
