Ok, so a major artist has a guitar intro that sounds awsome on bass.... you cant copyright the order you play notes can you? So it wouldnt be breaking any laws to borrow his intro for a little lick in a bass song would it? .

I would say that it depends on how you use it...if its in a bassline that not many people will notice anyway, its probably fine. But if you use it as the main theme of the song, it would probably be a bad idea...
