I guess it's a Guild or Epiphone. I know I have never heard one of those basses sound so funky.

Flats are not the norm for him either, IIRC. Sounds funky.

The man can groove, I bet that he could make an elastic tied to a 2x4 sound good.

I'm leaning towards Epiphone. I forget the exact model, but it looks closer to that than a Guild to me.

Just more proof that the tone is in the fingers not the gear

Its cool...notice that even with a hollowbody and flats he still sounds like Victa'...Goes to show how much of your sound really is in your hands!

It has a similar look to an older Aria I know of. The controls also look like they are in the same location. Don't know for sure though.

I love that clip just because it shows how inconsequential the equipment is. People pay $7500 for those Yin Yang basses thinking they're going to sound like Vic, and there's Vic with a cheapo hollowbody sounding more like Vic than any 10 other guys with a Yin Yang bass.

It's ALL in the hands.

Wow, that's some nice playing and I think the sound is great too. I can't get into his fast-funk but this I dig.

That's awesome! The groove and notes are definitely in the hands, but at the same time, you can't deny the hollowbody/flatwound effect.

If Vic's albums sounded like that I would have a lot more of em.

Yup, the playing is undenyably Vic, but I don't think anyone can say he sounds the same as he does on the Foderas. It's great nevertheless!

+1 To me, this clip shows how important BOTH the player and the gear are. Of course, Victor sounds great on anything, but TOTALLY different on this radically different sounding bass. I would also guess the phrasing and note choices are even impacted by this radical departure from his signature sound.

Cool clip...
