Yes, I know full well that it's messy, I mess up and it's generally devoid of musicality. I thought it sounded cool nevertheless, and is a good indication of what can be done with tapping.

Enjoy!

Dude, that was way cool!

Man, I wish I could do that. How did you do that? Do you read music? Did you figure it out by ear? Do you have a teacher?

C'mon, give!

That was good! I wish I could do that right now with my bass, but I can only play it on my trumpet. A song worth mastering though.

Great job! And I liked the overdrive. It emphasizes the idea of a bug flying around.

I also would like to know if you transposed that from an arrange for a different instrument, found tab or figured it out by some other means.

Also, gotta keep to OD man, gives ya that great Bee buzzzing.

Thanks for all the kind comments, everybody!

To answer your questions, my arrangement is an abridged version of a score I got from www.music-scores.com. I figured out fingering and everything after getting down the notes, and I had to displace an octave or two. It still sounds all right despite this.

I do indeed have a teacher, but for upright bass, not electric. I'm pretty much self-taught on electric.

I used OD because in my opinion, it adds more life to this particular tone poem than without. It's supposed to give a very decidedly buzzing sound like an insect, and done on a stringed instrument with rough bowing, it works. However, it doesn't quite get there with the legato tapping I use, so I kicked in the distortion to add that extra buzz. I can provide an MP3 of it done without the buzz if you people wish, since it sounds all right, just not as cool.

Wow! Great job. You should consider entering the Bass Extremes Solo Bass Competition. You would only have to work on one other piece to qualify, but it has to be from their repertoire list.
