VIDEO: My homemade bass + my kids doing Led Zeppelin!

Check it out. Me and my kids doing some Led Zep. That's the Jazz bass I built myself (see this thread for more info). I think it sounds pretty good. John Paul Jones would be jealous.

Very cool.

I don't have speakers here at work but I will have to listen when I get home. I also have a 10year old boy that plays drums. Comes in handy for practicing that is sure, also helps for learning to adjust to the drummer for timing problems as he is not always steady at keeping good tempo. But then again I'm not always in perfect time either. LOL

Yeah, I can sympathize completely. In the video you can hear my kid spaz in a few spots with the timing. It keeps you on your toes!

Excellent. Keep 'em at it, and they'll be rock stars before you know it! Nice Jazz too.

Thanks! I'm surprised by how easy it was to build it. Some people make it out to be an incredibly difficult thing that only experts or master luthiers can do right. But if you've ever had to remove a neck (to access the truss rod) and put it back on, swap a bridge, and install pickups, then you know 95% of what you need to know. It's mostly common sense.

The pain was doing the finish. That took forever. And a day.

Tone is really good. I dig the DiMarzio DP123 humbuckers. They still retain the Jazz sound but no hum.

By the way, forgot to mention - Everything was recorded with just 2 room mics. I didn't go direct. That's me through my Ampeg B-100R.

My kid is playing the Ludwig Vistalite kit (Bonham replica). The kick drum is MASSIVE. (It's my buddy's kit.)
