Love that band! I saw them once at the Roxy in Washington, DC on a two show / two act bill where they didn't clear the house after the first show. Patty Donahue stood next to me watching the opening act during the second show and asked me if I had a cigarette after which we had a brief conversation. She was quite the unique, quirky performer ... she died a while back from lung cancer, IIRC ... a damn shame. Tracy Wormworth (the bassist on "Christmas Wrapping, IIRC) manned the bass chair that night and carried on most famously. I got a live DVD of them within the last couple of years called "Live at Hurrah" which was probably filmed on their "Wasn't Tomorrow Wonderful" tour because it featured a second female singer who sang on the above album but didn't last with the band very long. I wish they'd release "Wasn't Tomorrow Wonderful" album on CD (although a fair amount of it is available on a Waitresses best of compilation which has been out for quite some time).

There was a great transrciption of that bass line in BP earlier this year, if memory serves, and a nice writeup on her. Great bass line indeed!

It's a cracker! No pun intended. Real sorry to hear she's no longer with us.

I started to transcribe this for a chart I was doing for my band if anyone would like to have a look. It's over on the first page of the GI forum at present in another thread about this great track.
