Huh, I always played that on one bass and assumed he did the same.

There's also a second (third) bass part playing rhythm -- no mention of that.

I'd thought Danny Thompson is playing the lower upright part and Herbie is playing the upper register on his 60/61 Jazz bass. ..... And was pretty sure I the bass part was Herbie's idea. ..... He's such a clever bast--d. .....
It's also rumored Herbie played a few of the more inventive bass lines in the Beatles. ..... "O-bla-di" for sure.

Herbie played both basslines.

He played for all 4 Beatles,but not on any Beatles recordings.
