I just thought that I would let anyone who might be interested know that my band just put two (relatively) high-quality recordings up on our myspace, so anyone who might be interested in it can take a listen at

www.myspace.com/amidsttheaffliction.

Keep in mind that we play metalcore, so we're not going to be everybody's cup-o'-tea, but I would love to hear opinions and critiques, especially regarding my own playing and tone. The new songs are "Trade Show Karaoke" and "Hakeldama (The Field of Blood)." Personally, I like Hakeldama the best of the two, because I have a little more room to actually play.

I don't know why, but the thread title amused me.

Not bad, a little loosey goosey from time to time (the drummer). The production leaves a little to be desired. Not too shabby though. I think your bass could be a bit more midrangey. You're a pick player right? What I like about pick playing is you can excuse some really midrangey tone. Maybe it's just me though. Something needs to be a bit crisper, it's a tad muddy in there.

Not a metalcore fan, but good job.

Thanks a lot man. I do play with a pick, and I do scoop out some of the mids, but I also play a P-bass, so take that with a grain of salt. I tend to go more for the low mids to add a bit of grind without it getting too nasal.

You're right, the production isn't amazing, but it's quite solid considering what we paid for it ($50 a song).
