Skip to 02:38 on this clip to hear Randy groovin':

He's also on a Billy Cobham album called "Magic" from about 1977.
I saw that tour. He was a bass monster.

He replaced Ralphe Armstrong in Jean Luc Ponty's band I believe

The man can certainly play! Don't DM make him a signature string?

+100!!!!! One of my favorite solos of all time! I was blessed to see Randy play with the Jeff Lorber Fusion in concert back in the 1980's. HE WAS SICK!!!!!!!!!!!! He also played some killer grooves with Tom Coster on the T.C and Did Jah Miss Me? CD's.

+1!!!
My favorite Walden album!
Randy has always been one of my main influences.
I would not begin to say that I'm the same league as you DW, and the estimable Dr. but my b'day is Feb. 4th. Maybe one day we can link...

One of my favorite records by Jean-Luc Ponty, "Mystical Adventures", has a song on it called "Rhythms Of Hope". A couple of other folks have already mentioned this as well on this thread. Randy played on the entire record, but takes a marvelous solo on this song.

I would have to spend many hundreds of dollars to gather all of the published recordings Randy has played on! He is one of the best.

He did a series of columns in the first few years of the magazine. The Bon Jovi session was the solo Jon Bon Jovi record which doubled as the "Young Guns II" soundtrack (remember "Blaze of Glory"?).

One of my favorite recordings he did was Ernie Isley's "High Wire." Probably hard to find now.

That song is brilliant! Excellent chops on show and brilliant melodies throughout!
