What 3 Albums are a Bass Tour De Force?

NO SOLO ALBUMS! I'm talking about band projects where the bass is amazing and makes the music what it is.

Right off the bat we have to exclude compilation albums otherwise stuff with JAmes Jamerson would win every category.

My 3 Picks:

Abby Road: Every moment is dictated by the bass. Every note is perfect. Bass composition at its finest.

Powerslave: Metal's masterpiece. Harris sets the bar for all ensuing metal bassists and it's never been matched -- not even by Harris himself.

Close To The Edge: Perhaps the loudest bass mix in the history of mixes. : ) But what brilliance! A masterclass in voice leading, counterpoint and using the instrument beyond it's accepted function without gimmicks or gadgets.

Those are mine. What are yours?

Rush-Hemishpheres, I think it's some of Geddy's best playing
Yes-The Yes Album, especially Roundabout(told it's on Fragile, but Yours Is No Disgrace isn't bad), there isn't a bassist on the planet who can't recognize that line.
Led Zeppelin-Led Zeppelin II, John Paul Jones, what more do I have to say?

Don't know why, but Dishwalla: Pet Your Friends...
Simple but very compelling bass lines for me - love the variety of tones and how those lines lay a perfect foundation for the songs. One of the reasons I picked up bass.

roundabout is on the fragile album, not the yes album. but both these albums are amazing.

I was stunned by Pino Palladino's bass work on John Mayer's album "Why".

top 3 'tour de force' bass albums

For what it's worth here are my suggestions:

"Moving Pictures" - Rush - it took a while finding a definitive 'Geddy Lee' choice, but this is just a superb album.

"Bloodsugarsexmagic" from RHCP - there's a level of passion to Flea's playing that hasn't really been replicated since.

"Sailing the seas of cheese" - Primus - easily Les' best output, the rest of the band aren't too sloppy either...

I look forward to your discussions / disagreements.

The Great Misdirect - Between The Buried & Me - Dan Briggs MAKES the clean sections what they are beautifully. On the heavy parts he manages to do play creatively as well.

Assuming we're discussing rock only:

Abbey Road - The Beatles
Like Swimming - Morphine

I'll leave the third spot open for now. I am out of ideas.
