OK, I have been recording at home on my laptop in the living room on a budget of like $0 dollars, with some surprising results for someone new to the hobby. And yes at this point it is just a hobby- I have song ideas in my head and I try to archive them in the form of recordings (typically a rough recording).

Anyways I downloaded acoustica mixcraft for free and have been using that to mix the tracks and do the eq'ing etc. The Program is fairly versatile, I use some basic compressors but there are more options I have yet to explore. Im not using an interface at all between the computer and bass, simply a quarter inch to eighth inch adapter right to the line in of the computer (this signal originates at the line out of my Fender BXR 60 practice amp).

Bassically I would appreciate it A LOT if some more experienced ears could give my stuff a listen and comment, constructively critiscize on any or all aspects of my recordings.

All tracks are being recorded with a Lakland 55-01 and a Raven set neck PRS style knock off. Both played by me.
The tracks range a plethora of styles- Rock, Funk, Smooth etc

Once again I appreciate all those who take the time to listen and comment on ideas for improvement or what they would do personally with the tracks.

I don't think anyone wants to download anything just to hear it. Try using Zshare. It has an autoplay/preview function (mp3's only).

In any case, I d/l'd the 'funk' tune. I think the mix is almost there. The 2 guitar thing is fighting each other in the mix. One should be comping on some chords. Between the bass and the 2 solo guitars, it seems a bit much to absorb. They all seem to be soloing at the same time! IMO, less is more. Don't try to over produce by adding so much at the same time.

The bass playing is fine. You have a good command of your instrument.

I heard funk...sound pretty nice. But that constant popping on the guitar is so weird. And I didn't like the flanger/phaser guitar solo in the middle. Basically, I didn't like the guitars. I think the quality is pretty fine.

I heard the rock, and in terms of sound you need more tump strengh and a compressor.
In other terms it is pretty good, you need to consentrate a little better in timing and a better sound effects for the guitar.

Hi Last call, what I ment was that you have too much mids and hights. The lows are with not enough strengt, and the bass drum sounds weak.
