I think it may have been the last thing John Stax recorded as bass player for the Pretty Things. I've always wondered how they got this huge, deep sound. Sure, a lot of it is the mixing and EQ, but what kind of bass and amplification do you think was used? I would guess it's a Jazz Bass, both pickups, with muted flatwound muted strings. No idea what they would have used for amplification though. Any better-educated guesses out there?
