Back in the day of early CD-dom, a certain poindexter co-worker/techie/Trek-ie would ONLY buy DDD cds...back then, I was younger & liked to argue-
"Yeah, so...these AAD & ADD discs sound 'better'".
He wouldn't buy into it.
Warm = the opposite of Cold.
I think back then the 'digital staircase' was too 'jagged'(?) when A-B'd with a 'smooth' analog waveform.
Therefore, Digital was 'cold' & that, by default, made Analog "Warm".
Plus-
Digital usually = Solid State
Analog usually = Tubes...& we all know how "Warm" tubes can get.
