What the drowned man told the world

This recording uses my new (made in 2000) Warwick Thumb. I really enjoy the tone I can get with it.

I think my band is going to take on this song, so there'll be a better recording, with a proper guitarist, keyboardist, singer and lead solos and everything!

ETA - I should mention that the drums here are Jamstix, and that there'll be a real drummer on the final track too, and he's pretty dang good.

Here's a picture of the Thumb in question.

I first thought I wouldn't like the tone with the way the pickups are voiced, but now I see that it sounds awesome in the mix. And it's very easy to play. I know it's supposed to have neck dive, but I haven't noticed any. That may be because that Levy's strap came with it, and the leather on it grabs my shirt pretty well. In any case, it hasn't been a problem.

I'll be gigging with it for the first time tomorrow night. Can't wait!

I dig it. Bass sounds really good. Though the drums really make it sound like a demo. It has no life. A set drum beat never works, it need to be programmed to play the song. I also get the sense that the band wants to push the tempo a tad.

Vocals are good but some of the harmonies are a little pitchy.

Sometimes a few corrections make the difference between great and "so so." This could be great.

Thanks for the feedback!

The drums are Jamstix; a real drummer will get a crack at it soon. Likewise a real singer, keyboardist, guitarist too. I'm looking forward to it.

I like how that thumb sounds. What effects are you using?

On the Thumb I'm using Ampeg SVX set to the B-15 model. On top of that I'm using Sonar's ProChannel effects to tweak it a little, but that's it.

Is your Thumb a bolt-on or NT?

It's a bolt on.
