There are so many that fit the category for different reasons, but I don't think we can leave out Slayer in such a discussion. Also, I have to add in Pantera, too. Also, some of the death metal bands from Deicide to Morbid Angel and even Sepultura.

To JasonOldsted: I really loved "Roots",what a HEAVY album that was. What about "Badmotorfinger"? Ben Sheppard played alot of interesting lines.
