Check out Ojos De Brujo. They're a modern Flamenco band from Spain. They meld Electronica, Hip-Hop, and Funk, with traditional Flamenco guitars and rythmes.
Javier Martin is their monster bass player.

that sounds real cool, i have to check that out. i've been listening to a lot of latin/iberian music lately.
what i've been digging:

julieta venegas (mexico)- solid groovy playing on all her albums
aterciopelados (colombia)- hector is one of my all-time favourites.
breaks co-op (new zealand) - warm fuzzy loopy goodness.
stereolab (france/england)- wicked awesome rhythm section.
los fabulosos cadillacs (argentina) - flavio is KING!

and my latest craze: pacha massive (NY) - tasty bass playing.

Ojos have 3 CDs. They're all great. I've heard about Pacha Massive. I'll check them out. Post your thoughts on Ojos de Brujos. I'd be interested in hearing what you think.

I'll do some research on the others you listed, too.

for groove, I have been listening to a lot of Sound Tribe Sector 9, And the Addison Groove project is pretty cool too.

There are a few cuts on Phish's Farmhouse that I really like the groove on, namely "Sand" and "First Tube"

I haven't been posting here at all for a while now,
which is a shame - cuz there are some fun threads
going ; )

Bob Berg - Enter The Spirit
I actually rediscovered this one recently. Possibly Berg's
finest era. He plays his ass off , and Genus, Chambers
& Kikoski are no slouchers either...

Michael Brecker - Time Is Of The Essence
Mike's death last month was quite a blow, and having finally
come to terms with the fact I'm not going to see him live -
I'm catching up on my listening. Bass-free though.
Organ quartet ; )
Both Mike & Pat are incredible soloists, with such a large
vocabulary...

Miles Davis - Relaxin' With The MD Quintet
Old-school. My mentor's keep telling me I can't JUST study
the new guys, plus you gotta know the tunes if you wanna
jam ; )
