What is the "least treble" bass performance on a rock album?

Hard to explain what I mean in the subject heading, but which album(s) have the boomiest, bassiest, tape-wound, not-a-hint-of-treble-dialed-in bass guitar sound?

First one that comes to mind for me is Traffic's "John Barleycorn Must Die". Steve Winwood is credited for the bass on the album as far as I can tell.

After that, pretty much any Humble Pie album with Greg Ridley, go with "Rock On" and "Smokin'" if you have to narrow it down.

Your choices?

A lot of the 13th Floor Elevators albums, especially the worst remixed ones have a lot of heavy bass in them.

Something about that oldschool bass sound is magical. I guess its what happens when flatwound strings hit studio compressors right?

Sir Paul with "And I Love Her" off of Hard Days Night. This is tough though, that 'ol Hof had so much bottom! This one just sticks out in my head because it's so low it almost sounds like it's dropped down a few steps.

"I Want You" is also a terrific example Chrisk-K

Lots of reggae tunes like that. I could list scores of them.

Reggae. Actually lots of modern recordings where the bass notes are barely distiinquisable but loud. Some old rap records will loosen your bowels with the sub bass.

But the cleanest deepest, "good" sound? Abby Road. Pure Bottom. And every note is crystal clear.

Mysterious Ways by U2 is always the first rock/pop song that comes to mind. I think an old Bass Player Mag review said something like Bass Guitar Used : One devoid of all treble" or something along those lines.

I think "Dazed and Confused" it's pretty much devoid of any high freq. Much of JPJ's body of work for that matter. But it suits the genre.

Some of The Police's earlier tracks had a "tone knob rolled all the way off" sound to the bass.
