Longest time I've waited for one, or just longest time in general?

Tool spent five years between Aenima and Lateralus, and from Lateralus to 10,000 Days.

Hell, from Undertow to Aenima was four years.

Testament. They will have a new one this year. Their last one with new material, The Gathering, came out in 1999.

Oooh, this will get some laughs, but I'm still waiting on "Chinese Democracy."

(For all you young un's, that's Guns N' Roses, and we the faithful have been waiting for 14 years and counting...)

No, I'm not kidding.

Also waiting on Cynic, but they just officially announced that they're really getting ready to record.

And what about Virgos Merlot/Virgos/Dark New Day? Every time I get my hopes up for a new album, the band implodes and Brett starts anew. Dark New Day's new album is due out this spring, I think, so I've got my fingers crossed for that one.

Yeah I didn't mention Cynic and I started the thread about them. 15 years and counting.

Modest Mouse was somewhere like 4 or 5 years between The Moon And Antarctica and Good News..., with the exception of a remastering of MAA, and a B-sides. Radiohead was almost 5 between Hail To The Thief and In Rainbows. Weezer was a little over 5 years between Pinkerton and The Green Album. That's a pretty general sense of a long time between albums in my favorite bands that are still going.

I've got 5 years between NIN's "The Downward Spiral" (1994) and "The Fragile" (late 1999), 6 between Rush's "Test For Echo" (1996) and "Vapor Trails" (2002), 4 between Gordian Knot's S/T (1999) and "Emergent" (2003, after many delays and announced release seasons) and a mere 13 years between Winger's "Pull (1992) and "IV" (2006).

I bought 10,000 Days and listened to it for a day and found it sitting downstairs still with the receipt in the bag.

I don't call that an album, I call it contractual obligation. It's like 3 songs and ambience. Not high on list for good Tool albums. Still waiting for the album after Lateralus to come out........

10,00o days is one of my favourite albums of all time. Lots people seem to dislike it though, a shame, I think it's great.

It's probably because after Lateralus, everyone wanted another album like that.
