I guess the oldest recording on that would be Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag taken from a piano roll made in 1919 by Scott Joplin. http://www.discogs.com/Various-Smith...release/969390

This might sound impossible - but what it is, is a stereo audio recording of a piano roll made by the great composer Gustav Mahler. So it was a paper system for "recording" what was played by the pianist exactly - inflections, dynamics etc.
It sounds great by the way - Hi Fi quality sound !
