Hey guys, i know this is a weird question, didnt know where to put this, but what are some indie keys? Like something tht kinda makes you drift. I know Growing Old Is Getting Old by Silversun Pickups but i can't figure out the key, its so random, the note choices. I wanna write some good, drift offy indie but im stuck as to what key to try. Maybe G Minor? I think Substitution is in that key. idk. Sry about the weird question

| | | | Eh, I often hear alternative rock guys using G major(E minor as well) and C major( along with it's A minor), it's really about note choice, rhythm, and effects from what I've observe doing my own alt/indie material. Listen to good alternative/indie writers and take note(not by transcription but listening) of how they often make their material to do it. |

My favorite chord progression is the chorus of "Strangers" by the Kinks, one of the fathers of indie rock:
E, E7, Am, F, C, G,

Probably some obscure number that you've never heard of...'s first cassette only EP was their best release, but it was limited to 5 copies and I own 4 of them.
