What is this tune? I had it stuck in my head all day yesterday, but I can't figure it out. Where does it come from?

http://media.putfile.com/Mystery-Tune-59

Thanks.

I was actually looking for the peice where this is the melody, instead of the bassline.

Any others?

My pop said it kinda sounds like it is from a old western.

The stuff you're playing - especially the chordal work at the end- is leaning towards a classic 1-6-4-5 progression, which was used in countless hit songs, especially in the Fifties.

Some of the melody line you start with reminds me of the horn intro to this song:

Sweet Soul Music. A R&B hit from the 60's

That sounds ridiculously familiar. I know it's something modern despite the I vi IV V changes.

Late era Chili Peppers?

Damnit, I'll try and think of it.

I'm hearing the theme from the Magnificent Seven.

Yeah, I know the root cord changes is a very popular one, and I mostly played the strummed stuff at the end just in case it would help someone find the theme to which this belongs. The melody I'm looking for is definitely the first part.

Hmm, that tune is very close, but it doesn't follow it for the rest of the song.

I starting to think I might have heard it in a live recording from a jam band, but this one line stayed in my head.

Yes. That's the western that my pop was thinking of. But it doesn't follow the cord changes throughout the rest of the song.
