I attended this concert back in 2006....Jay Z brought out the Roots band and an orchestra as well for this epic event. I really wish they would make a DVD of the concert because it was a great interpretation of all the soul and jazz recordings that were sampled in making the album:

I believe the bassist is the Roots' Leonard Hubbard, and I just love the way he drives the track here.
Particularly love the sound at 1:56....
