I have been on an 80's kick the past few days and have been listening to some killer bass lines. One of my fav's is The Fixx "One Thing Leads To Another". Anybody have a favorite 80's tune to play? Sting had some great basslines too, like "Spirits in the Material World".

Utopia's "Utopia" (1982) is full of great lines and playing by Kasim Sulton. Punchy bass sound too. Other Rundgren -produced albums from that era like Cheap Trick's "Next Position Please" and Psychedelic Furs' "Forever Now" had a similar bass tone so maybe it's not down to Kasim but still.

The Buggles "Video Killed The Radio Star", Trevor Horn (I think) plays a great, growly, fretless line and it's mixed WAY up front...Very Cool.

"Saved By Zero" & "Stand Or Fall" are other 'fun' tunes by The Fixx.
Other '80s tunes I liked playing-
"Promises, Promises"- Naked Eyes
"Rio" & "Save A Prayer"- Duran Duran
"Give"- Missing Persons
"I Feel For You"- Chaka Khan (mostly synth...translates well onto EB).

When I saw this thread, Talk Talk's "It's my life" came to my mind, the bass line is amazingly catchy.

Andy Rourke played some interesting lines with The Smiths, for example in
"This Charming Man"
"The Headmaster Ritual"
"The Queen is Dead"

Other similar (at least to me) pick player is REM's Mike Mills.
