What are your favorite Bass Grooves Recorded before 1974

Sign in to disble this ad
In keeping with Dr. Cheese's thread on bass solos, I'd like to hear what some of everybody's favorite bass grooves are that were recorded before 1974. Not necessarily solos, just in the pocket, driving, make you wanna move grooves.

Let's Give some props to those who inspired us.

James Jamerson is a given. He is the ultimate Master of the groove.

One of my personal favorites is Get off my back woman by B.B. King (Featuring Jerry Jemmott)

What do you guys think?
God Bless R.

Right On!
There's a group in Memphis called the King Beez. They play B.B. King's Blues Club often. Bassist is named James Jackson.
Those guys used to have that tune in their sets a few years back.

God Bless R.

My band still does it...as did the last one. And the one before that. Nobody can ever believe it when they first hear it- it's a groovin' tune! They all say the same thing- "How come this song wasn't on the radio?"

Also, FWIW, Michael McDonald covered it on his most recent release.
