I'm looking for some good new Christmas albums!!
My favorite of all time is Vince Guaraldi Trio - Charlie Brown Christmas. I just bought Yo-Yo Ma's Songs of Joy and Peace, and it is great but it's not all Christmas music.
What are your favorites? |

Edit: I almost forgot the Christmas album that my family has been listening to since I was a baby. I think it's called "Christmas Holiday Favorites" and was released by Disney. The cover of the album has some Disney characters going downhill on a toboggan.
I also like listening to good orchestral and choir based albums, The Nutcracker, and what the hell, as a guilty pleasure The California Raisins Christmas album.
I'm actually pretty big on Christmas music, but I can only listen to it from December 1 to around 4 or 5 days after Christmas. It's not the same outside that time interval.

| | | | I usually pick up a couple of Xmas albums each year.
This year-
It's the Flecktones...and Spyro Gyra ('cause I liked the Xmas albums put out way back when by GRP). Both are 'new' & recently released. I can recommend both.
Older stuff?
Guaraldi/Peanuts is classic...same for Nat King Cole.
Dianna Krall recent one is very nice, too. Anything with "Christmas Time Is Here" is OK by me.
Harry Connick's Xmas album is a bit in the same vibe as Krall's.
I also like Chicago's Xmas album.
...and Wynton Marsalis' Crescent City Christmas and Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas" & The Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping", Michael Franks' "Let It Snow", etc.
Add-
The Yellowjackets' Peace Round & Take 6's He Is Christmas (great version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen w/ The Yellowjackets)

My mom played the Chipmunks Christmas and the Oak Ridge Boys Christmas LP's over and over when I was a kid. Man, that's some bad stuff. |

It's bad...tunes are done in their usual style & uptempo ("Sleigh Ride")...to say the least!

Vanessa Davis' Christmas album- it's got great song choices, it's wonderfully sung without that "American Idol" sliding into notes crap, soulful, and well produced.
Anita Baker's which has Nathan East and I think Larry Carlton, as well as The Yellowjackets on one song.
Emmylou Harris' "Light Of The Stable" is simply beautiful. Her pure clear voice is tailor-made for the songs on this recording.
