That is the record that made me want to play bass in the first place. I saw Run To The Hills on MTV summer of 1982 and freaked. That was it.
I also like Piece of Mind, Powerslave, even Somewhere In Time.
ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY IRON MAIDEN!!

I remember freaking out when Piece of Mind and Powerslave were released...putting on Piece for the 1st time and hearing the thundering drum intro to 'Where Eagles Dare'...now that's classic Maiden! |

Out of the cd´s I own Piece of mind is the best one I think. And the best song by Maiden is Aces High in my oppinion.
And about the Blaze times. He weren´t a very good singer. It would have felt alot better if he wasn´t the singer of Iron Maiden taking over the job from the amazing Bruce Dickinson. The X-Factor never really had that Maiden feeling about it but I like the darker aspects of the music. The songs from Virtual XI can be nice to listen to once in a while but never the whole album straight (maybe with an exception of "futureal", that song rules). I think Maiden needed a "Blaze kind of era" to become as strong as they are now. However I like Maiden best with Bruce. But then again, who doesn´t? |

Killers
Number of the Beast
Piece of Mind
Powerslave
Live After Death (although Dickenson's vocals are weak at times.)
Seventh Son
There were a few songs I liked on "Somewhere In Time" but I didn't think the album, overall, measured up to some of their other stuff. After Seventh Son it seemed like there songs became more and more rehashed versions of their earlier material. I think things really went down hill after Bruce Dickenson left.
I do have a copy of their newer, reunited line-up, album-- "Brave New World." It's better than anything they've done since "Seventh Son," in my opinion although they're not breaking any new ground.

"The X Factor" is pure garbage that contains one of the worst hack jobs ever "sung". If you can stomach that shamelss mess, just wait untill you hear some *real* Maiden albums. |
Yep, I would also say that I can't stand fear of the dark, really low point for them. I do think that Brave New World has been a return to glory for Iron Maiden.

I just can't stop singing along. Steve Harris is really one my biggest influences, and actually it's great practice playing along. Really helps your speed and dexterity!
'Brave new world' is also a very good record. I saw Maiden on the Roskilde Festival 2 years ago, and it was one the best concerts i've ever seen. Everybody was singing along, and at one time Bruce Dickinson climbed up on the roof of the stage and mooned the crowd (40.000 I belive)! I bought the album as soon as I got home!

"Piece of Mind". "Aces High" STILL gives me chills.
BTW, has anyone here heard "Mission from 'Arry"?
It was the B-side of the "2 Minutes to Midnight"
12-in. single. It's a recording (by Bruce) of a
heated backstage, post-gig argument between
"Harry", Nicko, and Bruce. It's hilarious - like
a real-life Spinal Tap fight. Apparently, Nicko finally
calmed down and they released it and they all had a laugh about it. |

I stopped buying Maiden records after Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. The production of Somewhere in Time is very good. |

But to find out which albums you like I think probably something like Best of the Beast would be a good buy (it's also the only place I have been able to find a studio version of sanctuary this side of the 1980's)
