What's a reasonable rate for a bassist to charge for recording sessions?

Because I haven't done it before, but folks are asking...

What do you think you are worth? I'm not really sure how much I would charge, If I was a really good bass player and knew I could contribute to the songs competently then I could see charging around $30 and hour. But thats just a guestimate.

there has been plenty of discussion on this, do a search.

but in short, consider the following:

how many songs
how much time you will need to prepare
time for rehearsals, if necessary/appropriate
time for recording
what your time is worth
how much you like the music/people who are paying you
exposure/referrals from the recording (may encourage you to charge less if that is an issue)

Consideration should be given to the "use" of the recording. I would charge different for someone's demo than for a recording that was to be used in a film.
